Minutes of the Meeting of the Board of Directors January 22, 2004 Hometown Buffet - Scottsdale, AZ
Members in Attendance: Stefanie Campbell, EA, Patricia Carpenter, EA, Dick Thompson, EA, Robin Rufh, EA, TomGrace, EA, Charlotte Hargreaves, EA, Chuck Henderson, EA, Gisele Whyte, EA , Garland Reser, EA, Ellen Campbell, EA.
The meeting was called to order at 4:35 PM by President, Stefanie Campbell. After a greeting, there was a discussion about the replacement of the Arizona Society EA brochures. All brochures had been bundled and labeled and were handed out to board members and members according to the number of old brochures they had handed in with erroneous telephone numbers on them.
Secretary, Ron Coleman, was not in attendance and did not provide minutes for the December meeting.
The Treasurer, Garland Reser, reported a balance of $9,283.85 in the treasury. A motion to accept the Treasurer’s report was made by Tom Grace and seconded by Giselle Whyte.
Program Chairman, Ellen Campbell, made the speakers report. For the January meeting this evening Chuck Henderson and Stefanie Campbell are speaking and leading a roundtable discussion about changes to the Arizona tax law and forms. In April, there will be a software survey, a roundtable of funny stories and events of the tax season, updates to IRS about how electronic filing and paperless offices went. Lisa Novak from IRS will attend to listen to us and to tell us how the season went from IRS viewpoint.
Website information was presented by Stefanie Campbell, Webmaster. The new software makes it infinitely easier to update the website and it should stay updated throughout the year with greater frequency.

SEE Class Chairmen Robin Rufh and Patricia Carpenter made the following report: After this year the new SEE exam will be computerized with no carryover of previously passed parts to future exams. The watchword is to HURRY, HURRY, HURRY to get everyone into class and to pass this exam. There will be teacher sensitivity training for every instructor. New instructors will be paired with experienced instructors. It is possible there will be more classes since Ron Coleman has offered his office as a meeting place and we will no longer need to pay ASU for classrooms.

Public Relations Chairman, Gisele Whyte, will publish 2 press releases in February and will send them to local press contacts.
Arizona Society of EA Board Report appointed Chapter Representative, Gisele Whyte, reported Southwest Fest Convention in Prescott June 11& 12, 2004. This is another opportunity for excellent education and a chance to vote for new officers.
Bylaws Chairman, Tom Grace, asked for a motion that the Board accept the By-laws as sent 12/22/03 @15:33:06. The motion was made by Charlotte Hargreaves and seconded by Tom Grace. The board voted unanimously to accept the bylaws as amended. The Bylaws will be presented to members for a vote in June. Stefanie Campbell will send the corrections to the members and ask for a return vote by April 30. Return votes will go to Ron Coleman’s address or to Charlotte Hargreaves’s address.
Dues Statements were sent to members.
Election Discussion. Nominating chairman, Chuck Henderson, requested suggestions for directors. Maggie Otton was suggested.
Adjournment: A motion to adjourn was made by Dick Thompson and seconded by Garland to adjourn at 5:43 PM. The motion was passed.
